ADOBE APP HOMESCREEN EXPERIENCE

In 2018, Adobe launched a unified and consistent Home screen experience across all flagship apps. This new framework gives product teams a powerful new way to meet users where they are—inside the application, to serve up personalized learn and tutorial content, support new user success, and dynamically test new content.

Our first iteration implemented a 4 stage approach based on usage (number of saved files), with three content modules that would shift in hierarchy based on which stage the user was in. Primary content pushed to in-app tutorials or tutorials on the web. Research showed, however, that this staged approach was arbitrary, and occupied too much real estate on the home screen when users just want to get to their recent files.

The second iteration launched in 2019, as a dismissable component with just one stage, and two content modules. We are currently experimenting with different tutorial content types including in-app tutorial videos, onboarding tours, and sample workbook files.

This second iteration also included a component to surface new feature updates. We saw an 87% lift in new feature interaction for those who interacted with the component.
